This is an exceptional pipe bag from around 1890. Both beaded panels are interesting. The quill panels have some loss but read well. The fringe is long. The front has a long cord of twisted leather extending from below the top down to the end of the beaded panel and is tied off with twisted blue cotton cloth. Suspended with the twisted cord are two long narrow strips of quill wrapped hide ending in small cones. The bag was used when it was collected. It was in a small collection of Native American beadwork put together between the late 19th century and about 1915 by a traveling salesman in the midwest. This is a good piece for a collector of plains beadwork.
